~ Grant Awards ~

Student Travel Award
The AOA annually awards one student with a $300 Student Travel Award. The award is a travel stipend for students to attend and participate in professional conferences.  Any student currently enrolled in a university or college whose research contributes to and/or enhances our understanding of Oregon archaeology can apply.  The award is given out at the year's Northwest Anthropological Conference.  We begin accepting applications for this award in early February with a deadline around mid-March.

Research Grant
The AOA annually awards a research grant of up to $500, as well as a free one-year AOA membership, for proposals that advance the knowledge of Oregon archaeology through technical analyses, education, and interpretation.  We begin accepting applications for this grant in late March.
Past AOA Research Grant topics include radiocarbon dating (marine shell; weir stakes; bison bone), botanical and starch/pollen analysis, obsidian sourcing and hydration studies, and blood residue analysis.

Current Archaeological Happenings in Oregon (CAHO)
All members receive an electronic copy of CAHO, a newsletter that presents information on current research around the state, news from Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, upcoming conferences and training opportunities, legislative updates, and relevant advertising. 

The entire set of back issues of CAHO, beginning with 1974, have been scanned and are now available in PDF format. Over 100 issues (1974-2010) along with the two indexes are placed on a single compact disc. 
Cost is $10 for AOA members and $13 for AOA non-members.

Occasional Paper Series
This series from AOA is published at irregular intervals and provides articles on theoretical perspective, comparative studies, and artifact and site analyses.  Members can purchase this publication at a discounted price.
